UFC Minneapolis live blog: Francis Ngannou vs. Junior dos Santos

This is the UFC Minneapolis live blog for Francis Ngannou vs. Junior dos Santos, a heavyweight bout at Saturday’s UFC event at Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Ngannou, who is coming off of back-to-back knockout victories, faces dos Santos, a former UFC champion who has won three straight fights, in the main event.

Round 1: Ngannou opening up with accurate leg kicks. JDS answers with one of his own that immediately causes Ngannou to stumble. Punch to the body by dos Santos. An overhand right by Ngannou glances dos Santos’s head, but he circles away. Outside leg kick is working for dos Santos until he gets clipped on the side of the head by Ngannou. That’s all it takes to get dos Santos off-balance and Ngannou immediately follows up with more punches. Dos Santos on his knees, turtling up. He’s not answering, so referee Herb Dean calls the fight. Not sure how badly dos Santos was hurt, but he was not offering any intelligent defense.

Official result: Francis Ngannou def. Junior dos Santos via TKO at 1:11 of round one.
