Ireland’s Will Fleury will look to continue his winning momentum under the Bellator banner when he faces promotional newcomer Antonio Jones at Bellator 224 in Thackerville, Oklahoma, on July 12.
Bellator confirmed the 190-pound catchweight bout to MMA Fighting on Thursday. The fight will take place on the event’s preliminary card.
Fleury (5-1-0) was signed to Bellator as an undefeated prospect but suffered a first-round defeat when he met fellow previously undefeated middleweight Alen Amedovski at Bellator 203. The SBG fighter got back to his winning ways at February’s Dublin event with a second-round submission win over Shaun Taylor.
Jones (7-2-0) competed on Dana White’s Contender Series in his last outing, taking a 40-second loss to Edmen Shahbazyan, who was rewarded with a UFC contract on the strength of the win. The loss broke a four-fight win streak for “Doomsday,” who previously held a title under the Fury FC banner.
Fleury joins SBG teammates Sinead Kavanagh and Kiefer Crosbie on the card. Crosbie puts his undefeated record on the line against Jonathan Gary, while Kavanagh faces her most accomplished opponent to date in Leslie Smith.
