The Weekly Grind: Dong Hyun Kim attempts Askren’s Watermelon Challenge, Brian Kelleher puts out new single – 3 Piece and a Soda

The life of a professional fighter isn’t all glitz and glamour.

As if getting punched, kicked, kneed, choked and twisted into a pretzel on a regular basis isn’t enough, fighters attract a general wackiness that makes their lives, well...interesting.

To commemorate these day-to-day hardships, slip-ups, pranks, and more, we bring you, “The Weekly Grind.”

I don’t normally make posts like this but if you’ll hear me out I think you’ll appreciate where I’m coming from I know the difference is small but the first pic was taken 9 months postpartum and the comparison just the other day making these about 2 weeks apart. I stopped running about 6 months into pregnancy because I fell once during a run and skinned myself up pretty bad. Then I really got out of the habit and a year flew by. I know many of you might criticize me for not being 100% satisfied with pic #1 but truth is I just wasn’t. Before you judge please consider we all have our individual goals as well as struggles. I’m not as lean, dense or perhaps strong as I once was but That’s not my issue. My problem was I knowing I had not been putting my best effort forward. Knowing I can be a better version of myself motivated me to start running 5k, 3 times a week and that in turn motivated me to clean up my diet. I naturally added more weight training after my runs because why not? I’m there and warm already! I’ve also shed nearly 3 minutes of my initial run time!! It’s the trickle effect of the mind and body working together, synergy is the word. I’ve lost 5/6lbs, lost size in my waist, leaned out & toned my legs + arms and added some fullness to my booty! Consistency is key. Inspiration comes from others but motivation can only come from yourself. I’m encouraging you all to pick a healthy achievable physical goal and share it here with me here in the comments. Share it with the world so you can be held accountable! I love a good success story! Here are some ideas -download (or use one you already have on your phone) a step counter and set a goal of 6k steps per day -pick a distance to run and time yourself, then race yourself to improve your time once a week until you reach your goal time! -go hiking on the weekends -sign up for & start training for a tough mudder/race/triathlon
