A middleweight showdown between Derek Brunson and Ian Heinisch is now official for the upcoming UFC 241 card slated for Aug. 17 in Anaheim, Calif.

The UFC announced the fight on Wednesday along with a women’s flyweight contest between Sabina Mazo and former “Ultimate Fighter” prospect Shana Dobson.

The new fights will be featured on the undercard to the main event where heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier faces off with Stipe Miocic in a rematch after first meeting last year.

The fight between Brunson and Heinisch came together rather quickly after each of them picked up wins in recent bouts.

Brunson defeated Elias Theodorou by unanimous decision in early May and then Heinisch defeated Antonio Carlos Junior two weeks later. Following his win, Heinisch called for a fight against Brunson and the former college wrestling standout was more than happy to accept.

Brunson has been a stalwart of the top 10 rankings at middleweight since arriving in the UFC and the win over Theodorou put him back on track following a pair of losses to Israel Adesanya and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza.

As for Heinisch, he made his way to the UFC through Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series and he has been a welcome addition to the middleweight division.

He’s currently 2-0 in the UFC and hopes to pull off a third victory in a row when he meets Brunson in August.

Additional fights confirmed for the upcoming UFC 241 card including the co-main event between Nate Diaz and Anthony Pettis as well as the highly anticipated middleweight battle between Yoel Romero and Paulo Costa.

Raphael Assuncao faces Cory Sandhagen at bantamweight while Gabriel Benitez is scheduled to meet Sodiq Yusuff on the card as well.
