Yet another MMA legend has been approached by the WWE about moving into their world.

Former two-division UFC champion Georges St-Pierre noted on a French language interview on TVA Sports that he has been approached by the pro wrestling promotion, which counts Brock Lesnar as one of its biggest stars, and featured Ronda Rousey in a prominent position over the last year.

St-Pierre said that the company approached him when he was attending ESPN’s ESPYS award ceremony this past July. St-Pierre and Rose Namajunas were both nominated for the the Best Fighter Award, which went to Terrence Crawford.

“I was at an ESPN event in the United States, the awards ceremony, and I got approached by the WWE,” St-Pierre said in an interview with Jean-Charles Lajoie on TVA Sports. “I had just retired, and, it’s a form of competition, but of course, it’s also scripted, so I don’t know if I’d be willing to relive that. Perhaps for a special event, so I could taste it. But I don’t know if I’d want to sign a contract and do it every week and making it a living. Maybe for a special appearance.

“Perhaps we will get back to them on that, I don’t know, but for the moment, there are no discussions at all. They wanted to contact my agents, I gave them their number, but I don’t want to switch to wrestling full-time.”

Pro wrestling and MMA have had a huge crossover since the inception of the UFC and Pancrase in 1993. Ken Shamrock and Dan Severn, two of the UFC’s earliest stars, were both pro wrestlers prior to fighting.

A total of 11 of UFC’s Hall of Fame inductees have done pro wrestling, including Shamrock, Severn, Tito Ortiz, Mark Coleman, Bas Rutten, Don Frye, Maurice Smith, Kazushi Sakuraba, Rousey, Stephan Bonnar and Frank Trigg.

The current WWE active roster includes Shinsuke Nakamura, Jack Gallagher, Kushida, Matt Riddle, Rezar (Gzim Selmani), Jessamyn Duke, Marina Shafir, Shayna Baszler, Rousey, Bobby Fish, Lesnar and Bobby Lashley, who have all competed in MMA. Gallagher has in recent weeks been in talks with Bellator about competing in the U.K. and Cain Velasquez will be making his debut with AAA, a Mexico-based wrestling promotion, this summer.
