The feud between Artem Lobov and Paulie Malignaggi is apparently going to get a lot uglier before it gets better.
Squaring off after a Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship press conference in New York City ahead of their June 22 meeting in Tampa, Fla., the two pugilists were given plenty of time to jaw at each other with promotion president David Feldman standing between them.
Malignaggi, a former WBA and IBF boxing champion, can be heard questioning Lobov’s MMA record and warning “The Russian Hammer” to stop pointing his finger at him.
Lobov did not stop pointing and Malignaggi responded by spitting at Lobov.
It’s not clear if Malignaggi was able to actually hit his target, though Feldman can be seen reacting as if he inadvertently caught some stray spittle.
This is not the first time Malignaggi has chosen spit as his weapon of choice when disrespecting Lobov and associates, nor is the first time they’ve been in a heated confrontation. Malignaggi was recently seen spitting at a mural of Lobov’s close friend and teammate Conor McGregor, and Malignaggi and Lobov also got in each other’s faces at a BKFC media event in New York on April 2.
Monday’s press conference is available on the BKFC Facebook page in its entirety.
