Garry Tonon continues to impress as a mixed martial artist.
The jiu-jitsu specialist took on Yoshiki Nakahara in his fifth professional bout in the preliminary portion of Friday’s ONE Championship: Enter the Dragon in Singapore, and needed less than a minute to come out victorious.
Making his featherweight debut (155 pounds), Tonon traded shots with Nakahara on the feet before shooting for a single leg and rolling for a heel hook. Nakahara, who entered the contest on an eight-fight winning steak, tapped instantly.

”I just got one thing to say, Garry Tonon is no longer a prospect in the sport of mixed martial arts,” Tonon said after the 55-second win. “This is a resurrection. We’re bringing grappling back from the dead into the forefront of mixed martial arts.”
Fresh off the fastest win of his 5-0 career in MMA, Tonon moves one step closer to the featherweight belt, which currently belongs to Martin Nguyen.
”I’m looking for that title sometime soon,” Tonon said. “What you think, guys?”
