Recent Bellator co-headliner Falco Neto will be ineligible to compete for the near future after failing a drug test.
MMA Fighting confirmed with Mohegan Tribe Department of Athletic Regulation director Mike Mazzulli that Neto’s in-competition drug test for his bout at Bellator Birmingham produced a positive result for metabolites of the steroids methyltestosterone and nandrolone. The news was first reported by ESPN.
Neto was handed a six-month suspension and a $2,500 fine.
The May 4 event took place at Resorts World Arena in Birmingham, England. All overseas Bellator cards are regulated and sanctioned by the Mohegan Tribe Department of Athletic Regulation.
In the Bellator Birmingham co-main event, Neto took on unbeaten middleweight Fabian Edwards. The Portuguese fighter fell to 11-10 after Edwards bludgeoned him with a series of up-kicks.
