Bellator 221: Douglas Lima vs. Michael Page live blog

This is the Bellator 221 live blog for Douglas Lima vs. Michael Page, a welterweight bout at Saturday’s Bellator event at the All State Arena in Rosemont, Illi.

Lima, a former champion, is looking to pick up his second straight win while also punching his ticket into finals of the Bellator Welterweight Grand Prix tournament. Similarly, Page, is is looking to secure his spot in the finals while keeping his perfect professional record intact.

Round 1

Page rushes forward with a flurry before shoving Lima into the fence with a side kick. Lima circles away as Page continues to dart in-and-out with strikes. Page begins to taunt Lima as if he’s dribbling a basketball, much to the enjoyment of the crowd. Lima looks for the leg kick but is countered with a straight left to the nose. Page darts in with a combination but is dragged down to canvas.

Lima is working form full guard now as the crowd beings to voice their disapproval. Not much action as the crowd hits the 45-second mark. Page doing an excellent job of neutralizing his opponent off his back with wrist control.

Round 2

Page opens with a barrage of flashy kick before stunning Lima with a right hard. Page looks for the flying knee but misses badly. Lima kicks Pages legs out from underneath him and follows up with a hellacious hook to the jaw, separating his opponent from his senses. With one more punch, Lima finishes his unconscious opponent as the crowd erupts around them.
