Bellator 222 has added a pair of marquee fights to its card in the Big Apple.
On Tuesday, during the Bellator NYC press conference, promotion officials confirmed an initial report from ESPN of Dillon Danis’s upcoming fight against Max Humphrey moving from Bellator 221 in Chicago to Bellator 222 in New York City on June 14.
Danis (1-0) has not made the walk to the cage since submitting Kyle Walker in his professional debut at Bellator 198. Since then, the polarizing grappler has been forced to watch from the sideline after being handed a seven-month suspension for his role in the UFC 229 melee in October. This incident came after weeks of bad blood between the camps of Conor McGregor and UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. Danis was also fined $7,500 for his actions.
Humphrey (3-2) will be looking to right he ship after suffering a 16-second knockout to Anthony Goldfield at KC Fighting Alliance 29 in August 2018.
Also confirmed for the card is Heather Hardy’s return to the MMA world. While her opponent wasn’t announced, Coker confirmed the Brooklyn native would indeed compete at Bellator 222.
Hardy (2-1 MMA, 22-0, 1 NC boxing), a multiple-time boxing champion, has not strapped on her Bellator gloves since her decision win over Ana Julaton at Bellator 194 in February 2018. Prior to this “The Heat” suffered a bloody TKO-loss to Kristina Williams at Bellator 185.
However, since then, Hardy made the jump back to the boxing world where fans saw her win the NABF and WBO female featherweight titles.
The entire card will go down inside Madison Square Garden on June 14. With these latest additions, here is how the entire card stands:
