Report: Darren Till fined for allegedly ‘stealing’ taxi, trashing hotel room in Spain

Darren Till was reportedly fined and ordered to pay reimbursement after a series of alleged incidents last week in Spain.

The UFC welterweight fighter was fined more than 700 euros ($788 USD) in a Spanish court for allegedly “stealing” a taxi and trashing a hotel room with four fellow British tourists, per a report from the Daily Mail.

Till, 26, and his friends were ordered to reimburse the hotel more than 8,500 euros ($9,570 USD) after they allegedly vandalized a room, the report stated. Per the Mail, the five United Kingdom residents appeared in court in Arona, in the south of Tenerife, on Saturday. They were arrested Thursday. Tenerife is the largest of Spain’s Canary Islands.

The arrest news was first reported over the weekend by Spain’s El Dia. The paper reported that Till and those with him broke furniture and emptied fire extinguishers at the Costa Adeje hotel they were staying in. After being thrown out of that hotel, the group went to another in nearby El Duque, but they were refused rooms.

At that point, per the report, the five Brits had a taxi called for them. As the driver was loading the trunk with luggage, Till and another person allegedly got into the vehicle and drove away, to La Caleta, where they were intercepted by the National Police.

Neither Till nor his team has responded to requests for comment. A spokesperson for Spain’s National Police declined comment on the matter Monday, citing policy.
