Priscila Cachoeira is taking every opportunity she can to get her first UFC win.
After having fought in March, Cachoeira has signed on as a short-notice replacement for Yanan Wu to fight Luana Carolina in a flyweight bout at UFC 237 on May 11 at Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro. Combate was first to report the change, citing an undisclosed injury to Wu, and MMA Fighting’s Guilherme Cruz has confirmed the news with sources.
Cachoeira (8-2) is winless in two UFC appearances so far, losing to future flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko in her debut last February and then dropping a unanimous decision to Molly McCann at UFC London this past March. Prior to joining the UFC, “Pedrita” had won her first eight pro bouts, four by knockout.
She now meets the debuting Carolina, a 25-year-old fighting out of Sao Paulo who earned a UFC contract after winning a bantamweight bout against Mabelly Lima on the Brazilian edition of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series last August. Carolina is 5-1 as a pro, with five straight wins since losing her pro debut back in January 2015.
