Only three things in life are certain: Death, taxes and Justin Gaethje earning a Fight of the Night bonus.
Gaethje, a former WSOF champion, added yet another $50,000 to his bank account for his one-round war against Edson Barboza in Saturday’s main event UFC Philadelphia. This marks Gaethje’s sixth post-fight bonus in only five fights since debuting in the UFC in 2017. The man dubbed “The Highlight” previously earned Fight of the Night accolades for his wars against Michael Johnson, Eddie Alvarez and Dustin Poirier while earning a Performance of the Night for his destruction of James Vick.
For Barboza, this gives him seven Fight of the Night honors, which dates back to his UFC debut in 2010.
UFC officials also awarded Performance of the Night honors to Jack Hermansson, for his 49-second submission over David Branch, and Paul Craig, for his thrilling third-round submission over Kennedy Nzechukwu.
For Craig, this was his third time receiving this bonus, while Hermansson earned his first.
