UFC on ESPN+ 6 video: Randa Markos finishes Angela Hill with first-round armbar

Randa Markos finally found that elusive UFC finish.

In her 11th Octagon appearance (tied with former champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk for the most at strawweight), Markos (9-6-1) avoided going to the scorecards for the first time since joining the promotion, finishing The Ultimate Fighter 20 housemate Angela Hill (8-6) with a first-round armbar submission on the preliminary portion of Saturday’s UFC Nashville card.

Markos, a native of Iraq who currently fights out of Ontario, Canada, has struggled to find consistency since emerging from TUF as a standout prospect, alternating wins and losses in nine straight fights before going to a majority draw against Marina Rodriguez in her last outing in September.

There was some bad blood between Markos and Hill stemming from their time in the TUF house, and that appeared to spur Markos on to an aggressive start as she took Hill down and worked to secure the fight-ending armbar at the 4:24 mark of round one.

This was Markos’s second win against one of her TUF rivals. She beat former strawweight champion Carla Esparza by split decision in February 2017.
