Two of the lightweight division’s best are meeting in Canada’s capital.

MMA Fighting’s Marc Raimondi confirmed with sources that Donald Cerrone and Al Iaquinta have verbally agreed to meet in the main event of UFC Ottawa at Canadian Tire Centre on May 4. The bout was first reported by ESPN.

Cerrone (35-11, 1 NC) has fought in Ottawa before, defeating Patrick Cote by third-round TKO in a welterweight bout three years ago. Including stops in Toronto and Vancouver, British Columbia, “Cowboy” is 3-0 fighting in Canada. He’s currently on a two-fight win streak, most recently returning to 155 pounds to pick up a TKO-win over Alexander Hernandez in January.

This will be Iaquinta’s first trip to The Great White North. The New York native has won six of his last seven fights. Last December, Iaquinta won a unanimous decision over Kevin Lee to improve to 9-3 in the UFC and 14-4-1 overall.
