UFC London live blog: Darren Till vs. Jorge Masvidal

This is the UFC London live blog for Darren Till vs. Jorge Masvidal, a welterweight bout at Saturday’s UFC event at The O2 Arena in London.

Till, who is coming off of a failed bid to win the UFC welterweight title, faces Masvidal, who has lost two straight, in the main event.

Round 1: Marc Goddard the third man in the cage for the main event. No glove touch, Masvidal runs right out of his corner looking for a leg kick and he ends up catching Till between the legs. There’s a pause in the action before the match starts proper. Till with a straight left that sends Masvidal tumbling. He’s trying to recover and scrambling as Till jumps on him. They’re back to the feet, but that was first blood for Till. Till catches a kick and he trips Masvidal down again. He goes into Masvidal’s guard, Masvidal controls his hands and kicks Till off of him. Masvidal throwing kicks to the body freely back on the feet. Inside leg kick by Masvidal. Masvidal grabs a single leg, then throws punches over the top as Till defends. Till lands another solid left hand. Masvidal taking punches as he looks to counter. Till flicking his right hand over the top of Masvidal’s defenses, then he surges forward with a 1-2. Masvidal firing back. He gets a left hook to land right on Till’s chin. 1-2 by Masvidal and Till is shaking his head. Till gets Masvidal backed up against the fence with 30 seconds remaining. They separate and Till is tagging Masvidal, but Masvidal keeps coming forward. Action-packed first.

Round 2: Till aggressively working the jab. Masvidal answers with a leg kick and a counter jab. Masvidal with the 1-2 and he takes an accidental eye poke, there’s a break in the action. Masvidal rushes in for the takedown and he immediately looks for back control, Till just powers up. They’re against the cage, Masvidal with double underhooks. Till gets off the cage and absorbs a couple of hooks from Masvidal. Nice jab by Till. Masvidal throwing hooks freely, then a body kick. Till goes for a left hand but misses and eats a couple of counter-punches. Till enters with a right hook this time and scores. Huge 1-2 combination by Masvidal lands right on the button and Till hits the mat like a rock. He is out cold.
