Tim Means took quite a tumble on Saturday and could be out of action for the foreseeable future.

In one of UFC Wichita’s most exciting fights, Means went toe-to-toe with Niko Price in a welterweight bout that saw both competitors take some serious punishment. As Means came forward to try and finish Price at the end of round one, Price blasted Means with a right hook that rocked Means and caused him to fall awkwardly to the canvas. The bout was waved off shortly after.

Means’s leg appeared to be injured as he went down and post-fight, “The Dirty Bird” confirmed via Instagram that he had broken his leg and ankle and will require surgery.

“I do my best to leave it all in the ring every time out so the fans can get what they paid for,” Means wrote. “Wasn’t my night. I have to get surgery, broken [tibia] and ankle. Niko caught me with a punch and my foot got stuck under me. Much respect to [Price] . See y’all down the road. Thank you to everyone for the kind words.”

Means did not give a timetable for when he expected to return from his leg injury. His wife, fellow fighter Brenda Gonzales-Means, also provided an update on Instagram, sharing a close-up shot of Means’s leg.
