“do Bronx” and Teymur put on one of the best fights of the night at UFC Fortaleza on Saturday night in Brazil, with Oliveira extending his record for most submissions in UFC history with a second-round anaconda choke — and the Swedish fighter was hurt by the Brazilian before to tap.
Oliveira clipped Teymur on the feet with an inverted elbow right before locking the finishing move and, according to multiple sources, Teymur suffered a right orbital floor fracture during the fight. The lightweight was handed a 180-day medical suspension by the Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission (CABMMA), but can can return sooner if cleared by a specialist.
The defeat in Fortaleza snapped Teymur’s streak of eight victories, five of those inside the Octagon. Oliveira, on the other hand, now holds a 5-1 record with five submission finishes since moving back up to lightweight.
CABMMA is expected to release the complete list of medical suspensions on Monday.
