Poliana Botelho has a new opponent for UFC 236.
Originally booked to meet Paige VanZant in a flyweight bout at the April 13 pay-per-view show in Atlanta, the Brazilian will now take on Lauren Mueller, multiple sources told MMA Fighting. Farah Hannoun first reported the news.
Sources said VanZant is not injured, but the promotion opted to remove her from the match.
Botelho (7-2) will attempt to get back on the willing column after suffering a first-round submission defeat to Cynthia Calvillo at UFC Buenos Aires in November. The Nova Uniao star, who beat Pearl Gonzalez and Syuri Kondo in her first Octagon appearances, has decided to move up to 125 pounds going forward.
Mueller (5-1) signed with the UFC after defeating Kelly McGill-Velasco at Dana White’s Contender Series in 2017, and scored a decision win over Shana Dobson in her debut before losing to Chinese prospect Yanan Wu by first-round armbar last November.
UFC 236 will be headlined by a pair of interim championship bouts, with featherweight king Max Holloway facing Dustin Poirier at 155 pounds and Kelvin Gastelum squaring off with Israel Adesanya at middleweight.
