Sage Northcutt is ready for his ONE Championship debut.
Coming off of three consecutive UFC wins, Northcutt’s first fight for his new promotion will take place against kickboxing specialist Cosmo Alexandre at an event in Singapore on May 17. Northcutt, 22, announced the news at a ONE media gathering in Los Angeles on Tuesday.
The bout will be contested at welterweight, making it a 185-pound bout under ONE’s weight classifications.
Northcutt (11-2) was not re-signed by the UFC following his most recent appearance last July, a second-round knockout win over Zak Ottow at 170 pounds. He won six of his eight fights inside the Octagon.
The 36-year-old Alexandre (7-1) has competed in kickboxing for over 14 years and strung together five consecutive wins inside the Bellator cage from 2011-2012. His last MMA fight took place in September 2016 at a show in Beijing, China, where he defeated Musu Nuertiebieke via first-round TKO. He has made two appearances in ONE kickboxing bouts, going 1-1 in those outings.
