Two Brazilians were fined for missing weight at the official UFC Prague weigh-ins, which took place Friday morning in Czech Republic.
“I tried my best and was one pound over,” Ferreira told MMA Fighting after the weigh-ins. “It’s a mishap, but that's it. I still have a fight to fight, so I’m going there with everything I have. It has to be worth it.”
Octagon newcomer Klidson Abreu, slated to fight Magomed Ankalaev at light heavyweight, weighed in at 209 pounds. The former Brave CF light heavyweight champion, who also competed as a heavyweight before, was also fined 20 percent of his purse.
“Everything was alright, but my weight wouldn’t go down from (209 pounds),” Abreu told MMA Fighting. “We used the bath tub, sauna, but the weight wasn’t coming off.”
Abreu says he will continue fighting at light heavyweight going forward. The Brazilian prospect explained that he cut a total of 35 pounds on short notice before UFC Prague, and dealing with a broken foot after his last fight made his weight cut more complicated this time. In normal conditions, Abreu says he makes weight “easily”.
