This is the UFC Fortaleza live blog for Raphael Assuncao vs. Marlon Moraes, a bantamweight bout at Saturday’s UFC event at Centro de Formacao Olimpica do Nordeste in Fortaleza, Brazil.
This will be a rematch of their first encounter at UFC 212 back on June 3, 2017, that Assuncao won via split decision.
Assuncao, winner of his last four, faces Moraes, a former World Series of Fighting champion who has won three straight bouts, in the main event.

Round 1: Jason Herzog on hand to oversee the main event. Moraes opens up with a leg kick. He’s scoring low, but Assuncao catches him coming in with a low kick that momentarily trips up Moraes. Moraes starts pumping his jab. Right hook by Moraes lands hard, and he connects with another that wobbles Assuncao. He has to wrap up Moraes and pull him into guard to recover. Assuncao is trying to kick Moraes off, but Moraes is finding openings for ground-and-pound. Guillotine attempt from Moraes as Assuncao works to get back to his feet. Moraes commits and he’s on top with Assuncao’s head trapped. Moraes has Assuncao’s legs tied up too and there’s the tap by Assuncao!
