One fighter almost missed out on her debut at UFC Fortaleza.
Livia Renata Souza was scheduled to welcome Sarah Frota to the Octagon at Saturday’s event at the Centro de Formacao Olimpica do Nordeste in Fortaleza, Brazil.
However, at Friday’s weigh-ins, Frota tipped the scales at 123 pounds, seven pounds over the limit for their scheduled 115-pound (plus one-pound allowance) matchup.

Souza, a former Invicta FC strawweight champion, successfully weighed in at 115.5 pounds.
“My opponent was unprofessional and missed weight by more than three kilograms, but we’re not here for nothing,” Souza told MMA Fighting’s Guilherme Cruz. “Let’s go on and put a beating on her, make her pay for this. Work first, professionalism.
“Congratulations, you just made history in the strawweight division, you and Mackenzie Dern.”
The bout will proceed as scheduled with Frota forfeiting 40 percent of her purse to Souza.
Frota was signed to the UFC last year after a first-round KO win over Maiara Amanajas on the Brazilian edition of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series. She owns a 9-0 pro record.
