Michael “Venom” Page is wasting no time booking his next fight as he returns at Bellator Japan on Dec. 28 where he faces UFC veteran Shinsho Anzai as part of the two-night event being held in coordination with RIZIN around New Year’s Eve.
Bellator officials announced the fight late Friday night. The fight will be held at a catchweight of 173 pounds.
Page, best known by his nickname ‘MVP,’ is coming off a first round knockout against Giovanni Melillo at the recent Bellator event in London, which moved his winning streak to two in a row after suffering the first loss of his career against reigning welterweight champion Douglas Lima.
While Page was originally expected to face Derek Anderson on the card, an injury forced a change to his opponents and the British striker was criticized for once again facing less than stellar competition.
Now he faces a four-time UFC veteran in Anzai, who went 2-2 with the promotion prior to his exit back in 2018 following a submission loss to Jake Matthews.
Since that time, Anzai picked up a win ovoe Yoichiro Sato in DEEP before booking the fight against Page as part of the Bellator Japan card.
The Dec. 29 show will be headlined by former PRIDE champion Fedor Emelianenko returning to his old stomping grounds where he faces Quinton “Rampage” Jackson in a heavyweight fight. The card will air on the Paramount Network in the United States.
