UFC on ESPN 7 weigh-in results: Cynthia Calvillo misses weight by over four pounds

Cynthia Calvillo failed to beat the scale on Friday, and it wasn’t close.

At the official weigh-ins for UFC on ESPN 7, Calvillo weighed in at 120.5 pounds, 4.5 pounds over the strawweight limit (including a one-pound allowance). This is the second time in Calvillo’s UFC career that she has missed weight.

Per UFC officials, Calvillo will forfeit 30 percent of her purse to opponent Marina Rodriguez, who successfully weighed in at 115.5 pounds, and the bout will proceed at a catchweight.

Calvillo, 32, had previously missed weight at UFC Argentina in November of last year, where she tipped the scales at 118 pounds. She went on to defeat Poliana Botelho by first-round rear-naked choke and then defeated Cortney Casey by unanimous decision at UFC on ESPN 1 in February.

The other fighter to come in heavy was featherweight Matt Sayles, who weighed in at 148.5 pounds for his bout with Bryce Mitchell. That bout will also proceed at a catchweight, with Sayles forfeiting 20 percent of his purse.

Veteran Tim Means initially came in half a pound over the welterweight limit, but successfully hit 171 pounds on a second attempt.
