“Korean Superboy” Doo Ho Choi will need some time to recover after undergoing surgery to repair a broken forearm suffered in his most recent fight at UFC Busan.
The South Korean fighter earned a “Fight of the Night” bonus for his performance, but unfortunately he dropped his third straight bout after falling to Charles Jourdain by second-round TKO.
On Tuesday, Choi posted a photo on his Instagram showing off the broken forearm and the aftermath of his surgery where it appears he had a plate inserted along with several screws.
He captioned the photo by saying ‘thank you for your concern’ and added that he hopes to fight again quickly.
Choi has consistently been one of the most exciting fighters on the entire UFC roster, earning post-fight bonuses in five of his six fights inside the Octagon. He has only gone to a decision once during that run, which was a “Fight of the Year” candidate against Cub Swanson in 2016.
He’s fallen on harder times lately with back-to-back knockout losses to Jourdain and Jeremy Stephens.
There is no word on how long the arm surgery will keep him sidelined but Choi is also expected to take an extended break from the sport as he goes through two years of mandatory military service in his native South Korea.
