It’s not an ex-champ, but Mickey Gall gets to fight a seasoned octagon vet in his next outing.
One month after the “Looking for a Fight” veteran and callout aficionado lost a fight with ex-interim champ Carlos Condit, he’s been booked opposite Alex Oliveira at UFC Norfolk, which takes place Feb. 29 at Chartway Arena in Norfolk, Va.
Gall most recently appeared in the octagon at UFC on ESPN 5, where he got back into the win column after a disastrous outing against Diego Sanchez at UFC 235. Gall said his body shut down against “The Ultimate Fighter” winner.
Hoping to send Gall back to the loss column is Oliveira, who’s in dire need of a win after three straight setbacks in bouts against Gunnar Nelson, Mike Perry and Nicholas Dalby.
The most recent loss Oliveira’s manager appealed to overturn. Manager Alex Davis claimed the fight’s referee erroneously stood up the fighters while Oliveira was in a dominant position. Davis on Thursday told MMA Fighting that he never received a response to his plea from the IMMAF, which he said regulated the event.
The confirmed fights for UFC Norfolk include:
- Mickey Gall vs. Alex Oliveira
- Felicia Spencer vs. Zarah Fairn Dos Santos
- Megan Anderson vs. Norma Dumont
- Kyler Phillips vs. Gabriel Silva
- Brendan Allen vs. Tom Breese
