Darren Stewart will face another surging middleweight charge in Marvin Vettori when the UFC docks in his native London on March 21.
The UFC announced the bout via social media on Tuesday.
Stewart (11-4-0) is coming off the biggest win of his career after putting the first blemish on wrestling standout Deron Winn’s formerly undefeated record. “The Dentist” showcased his signature striking en route to a split-decision nod. The win was his second consecutive victory in the Octagon following his unanimous decision win over Bevon Lewis.
After suffering three consecutive losses to begin his UFC tenure, Stewart has rallied emphatically to go 4-1 in his last five UFC fights. His sole loss came at the hands of undefeated prospect Edmen Shahbazyan via split decision.
Vettori (14-3-1) has claimed two decision wins over Cezar Ferreira and Andrew Sanchez since returning to action following a USADA suspension. The Italian received a reduced six-month sentence as USADA does not believe he intentionally cheated due to the low amount of ostarine in his system, which was consistent with a contaminated supplement.
“The Italian Dream” has been vying for another shot at current middleweight champion Israel Adesanya ever since their meeting in April 2018 which finished in a split decision for “Stylebender”.
