UFC 245: Usman vs. Covington took place Dec. 14 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. UFC champion Max Holloway (21-5) battled Alexander Volkanovski (21-1) for the featherweight title, which aired live on ESPN+ pay-per-view. Catch more video highlights below.

Round 1: Jason Herzog is the referee for this championship bout. Volkanovski stops the feeling-out process with a quick inside leg kick. Holloway lands his first jab of the fight. Volkanovski scoring with kicks to the lead leg. Holloway with a leg kick now. Right hand to the body by Holloway, leg kick by Volkanovski. Holloway throws a leg kick and Volkanovski responds by doubling up on his jab. Leg kick by Volkanovski then a stiff left hook counter. Holloway rushes in and they trade punches. Volkanovski advances with a punch to the body. Challenger could be up on the cards in the early going. Left up top, then a right by Volkanovski. He loads up on a leg kick and connects. Volkanovski lands a right and Holloway feigns being wobbled before smiling, both men looking like they’re having a good time. High kick blocked by Holloway, Volkanovski follows with a glancing right hand. Volkanovski with his first takedown attempt of the fight, Holloway gets his back to the fence and gets out. Holloway using his jab to keep Volkanovski at bay, so Volkanovski goes back to kicking at Holloway’s lead leg. Side kick to the body by Holloway, Volkanovski steps in with a left hook.

Round 2: Volkanovski getting back to attacking the calf right away. Hard body punch by Holloway. He’s using his reach to attack Volkanovski’s body. Volkanovski continues to chip away at Holloway’s leg, which is turning a shade of red. Holloway avoding punches up top for the most part. Volkanovski’s leg kick game is on point. Left hook by Holloway connects. Volkanovski marching forward with body punches, then he goes back to the leg. Spinning back fist by Holloway easily deflected by Holloway. The champ mixes up his punches to get Volkanovski guessing. He kicks Holloway’s right leg now after Holloway switches stances. Volkanovski scores with a right hand to the jaw. Volkanovski sticking with the leg kicks. Holloway catches him with a quick counter right. Then another one that slows Volkanovski down for a second. Spinning kick to the body by Holloway just misses. Inside leg kick by Volkanovski and then a counter right by Holloway to end the round.

Round 3: Holloway comes out in southpaw stance again. Body punch by Volkanovski, then an inside leg kick. Holloway getting loose with his hands, but Volkanovski with good head movement. Kick to the body by Volkanovski. Holloway can’t get anything going. Hesitation by Volkanovski, then he lunges in and finds a home for a left hook. Two more lefts by Volkanovski, Holloway sneaks an uppercut in there. Crisp right hook by Volkanovski. Holloway with a leg kick of his own. Inside leg kick keeps Holloway off-balance. Step-in right hand for Volkanovski. Holloway with the jab, Volkanovski answers with a 1-2. Holloway goes to the right jab again. Volkanovski with a jab, then a punch to the body, leg kick, he’s giving the champion problems. Knee to the body catches Volkanovski coming in. They’re talking and Holloway hits Volkanovski with a straight left. Wild spin kick by Holloway. misses. Holloway with a kick to the body then a short right. He misses with a spinning backfist as the round closes. Very, very close round.

Round 4: Volkanovski sticking with the leg kicks, Holloway has to close the distance and Volkanovski makes him pay for it with a 1-2 combination. Holloway throws a 1-2 of his own, but Volkanovski lands a clean right hand. Holloway firing away with his jab. Volkanovski looks to grapple and he pushes Holloway against the fence, neither gaining much of an advantage. Reset in the center of the cage. Low kick and jabs by Volkanovski. Holloway with the uppercut, then the straight left. 1-1-2 by the champion. They trade low kicks. Volkanovski mixing up his strikes, not letting Holloway establish anything. Holloway doubles up on the jab. He gets Volkanovski with an uppercut as Volkanovski charges in. They trade clean jabs. Holloway throws out a hard right, he’s back in orthodox stance. Body punch by Holloway ad Volkanovski seems to say, “Good job.” Holloway focusing on the body. They get a little wild with their punches, both scoring head shots. Holloway rips a punch to the body, then a kick.

Round 5: Holloway comes out hot with kicks to the body, Volkanovski sticking to his game plan and firing leg kicks and short punches. Holloway showing plenty of urgency, but he’s getting caught with clean punches even as he lands his own. Big kick to the body by Holloway is met by an overhand right from Volkanovski. Head-body, head-body combos by Volkanovski. Holloway having a lot of success punching the body, Volkanovski still getting on the board with leg kicks. They grapple in an uneventful clinch. Volkanovski goes to the body, then lands a sharp elbow, Holloway backs him up with a power right. Volkanovski with a takedown attempt that is blocked, they trade uppercuts. Kick to the body by Holloway. Volkanovski with a stiff jab. Both men throwing freely in the final minute. Body lock by Volkanovski in the final seconds, Holloway gets free and chases him, but can’t land a Hail Mary shot. Should be Volkanovski’s fight, but all five rounds were close.
