A light heavyweight bout between Ovince Saint Preux and Ryan Spann has been removed from the UFC’s upcoming trip to Houston.
MMA Fighting’s Damon Martin confirmed with sources close to the situation that the Saint Preux vs. Spann matchup scheduled for UFC 247 on Feb. 8 has been canceled. The news was first reported by MMA Junkie following an Instagram post by Spann announcing his withdrawal.
“Well I’m not doing UFC Houston Feb 8th anymore my people. I apologize,” Spann posted. “Working on something else but not official yet.”
Spann did not indicate the reason for his withdrawal. Officials are not expected to seek a replacement to keep Saint Preux on the card.
“OSP,” a one-time interim UFC light heavyweight title challenger, went 1-1 in 2019, defeating Michal Oleksiejczuk by submission and losing to Nikita Krylov by submission. Spann won both of his fights this year to improve to 3-0 in the UFC, finishing Devin Clark and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.
