Former BAMMA champion and Cage Warriors veteran Tim Barnett and Italian lightweight Alessandro Botti have stepped up to the plate on short notice to take fights on Nov. 23’s Bellator London card at the SSE Arena, Wembley.
Bellator announced via social media that Botti would step in to replace Myles Price in his bout against Alfie Davis. The promotion also confirmed to MMA Fighting that Liverpudlian Barnett would now face Akonne Wanliss following Tom Green’s withdrawal. Barnett has signed a one-fight deal with the promotion.
Barnett (7-3-1) is a former BAMMA lightweight champion. After an impressive 5-0 run to start his pro career, Barnett suffered his first defeat when he rematched Rhys McKee for the BAMMA title in 2018. After that, he signed for Cage Warriors where he registered a record of 2-2, claiming wins over Adam Ventre and Sean Carter. He suffered a first-round defeat in his last outing to lightweight contender Donovan Desmae.
Botti (15-10-0) is coming off a loss in the first fight of his multi-fight deal with Bellator - a third-round loss to former BAMMA double champion Terry Brazier. The Italian is now on a two-fight skid with the Brazier defeat coming on the back of a first-round stoppage at the hands of TUF alum Abner Lloveras.
