It’s been almost one year since Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz locked themselves in a cage for the third time under Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions banner and since then, a lot has happened. Ortiz has returned to fighting full time and ESPN even produced a 30 for 30 documentary on Chuck and Tito. The documentary covered their entire rivalry, including their third fight, but ended on a somber note, saying that Liddell has not made up his mind on whether to continue fighting or not, and speaking with TMZ Sports, Liddell’s longtime friend and promoter Dana White was not exactly thrilled to hear that.
“[Performs a facepalm]. Listen, Chuck is a very, very smart guy,” White said. “I’ve said it many, many times. Tito, not very smart. Not an intelligent guy. He’s just not! I’m not being mean, I’m not being rude. The worst thing about Tito is Tito’s one of those guys that thinks he’s smart but he’s not and those are the most dangerous type of guys. Chuck is actually a smart guy and I tried to talk both of them out of this De La Hoya fight, told them that this De La Hoya thing was bad. Chuck, I tried to talk out of the fight period. Chuck Liddell is 50 years old and should not be fighting. He’s a grown man and he can do whatever he wants to do but let me tell you what, the commission that sanctions that fight, wow.”
White and Liddell have been thick as thieves since the early days of the UFC. Before he became the president of the UFC, White managed Liddell and White played a large role in Liddell’s first retirement from the sport back in 2010 after suffering three consecutive knockout losses. When Liddell announced he would be coming out of retirement for a trilogy with Ortiz, White was adamantly against it and he still feels that way.
“Chuck Liddell is one of the greatest people you could ever meet,” White said. “He’s a good person. He’s a good guy. He’s a guy that you become friends with and you’re friends with that guy for the rest of your life. He’s that guy. He takes care of the people that are around him. All the people that were around him in the beginning of his career are still around him now and still friends with him. He’s a good person. When you meet Chuck Liddell, when you get to know Chuck Liddell, you love Chuck Liddell.
“He’s one of the best human beings you can ever meet, he’s one of the greatest guys I’ve ever worked with in the fight game, I love him, I respect him, and the crazy thing is, all the reasons that we love Chuck Liddell are the same reasons he wants to fight. To his core he is a fighter, it’s what he loves to do, but that third fight should have never happened.”
Most fans feel the same way. Hopefully, we’ve seen the last of Chuck Liddell in the cage.

Cutmen in the corner must be more assertive when a fighter must stay still. Between rounds 1 and 2 a crucial moment of repair was missed due to movement.
Either way, solid fighting and onto the next... Me.

Corey Anderson apologizing for being the most interesting he ever has been. SMH.
I want to say I apologize to @Johnnywalkermma , fans, friends, family, and my past athletes for the way I behaved. That was no way shape or form who I am as a person or a professional. I was taught to be a good sport. And that was not that. Emotions got the best of me. #ufc244

Seriously, people were actually talking about you.
.@CoreyA_MMA look at you now tough guy. You finally put someone away and now you talk shit to a barely ranked dude after you finish him? I hear my name is coming across your desk...sign it this time and I’ll do the @ufc a favor... or sit down, be humble and shut your mouth. ♂️

It's now week 3 of Jones watch and we still haven't seen any movement folks. Some have even speculated he has lost the ability to make a wise decision. We just ask the public for prayers to help him through this tough time. #PrayersforJones #andnew https://t.co/2LZpsXErWA

Johnny Walker and Danny Hardy.
I know you sent me a private message, but since you made this so public and social media got involved, I’ll have my say. When a respected team tell me something, why should I not believe them? I don’t care either way, I’m just analyzing a situation.
— Dan Hardy (@danhardymma) November 4, 2019
The fact that you do taunt people, as you did when Corey pinged you with that first punch, makes it all the more believable. If you didn’t, then I apologize for sharing false information. I had no reason to believe it wasn’t true at the time though.
