UFC 244 video: Edmen Shahbazyan starches Brad Tavares in under three minutes

Edmen Shahbazyan now has a ranked opponent on his list of victims.

The undefeated middleweight didn’t need a second round to take out No. 11 veteran Brad Tavares on the ESPN2 preliminary-card of UFC 244 on Saturday at Madison Square Garden.

At the 2:27 mark of the opening frame, Shahbazyan caught Tavares with a head kick that forced immediate referee intervention. It was his fourth straight octagon victory and extends his unbeaten streak to 11 fights.

Here is the highlight-reel finish:

Shahbazyan, who’s managed by Ronda Rousey and guided by the former UFC bantamweight champion’s longtime coach Edmund Tarverdyan, is just as fast as his famous rep in the octagon. Only once has he gone to the scorecards, with Darren Stewart taking him the distance en route to a decision win.

Tavares has now dropped back-to-back fights following a decision loss to current middleweight champ Israel Adesanya.
