UFC 244 live blog: Kevin Lee vs. Gregor Gillespie

This is the UFC 244 live blog for Kevin Lee vs. Gregor Gillespie, a lightweight bout at Saturday’s UFC event at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Lee, a one-time interim lightweight title challenger who is returning to the division after a one-fight stint at welterweight, faces Gillespie, who is 6-0 in the UFC and 13-0 overall, on the main card.

Round 1: Dan Miragliotta will referee this fight. Both fighters looking to strike from distance to start, Gillespie with straight rights, Lee answering with his jab. Gillespie to establish his jab now, but he takes a right hand from Lee. Gillespie with one of his own. They’re trading straight punches in the center of the Octagon, neither guy looking to take a step back. There’s a cut under Lee’s left eye. It’s been a boxing match two minutes in. Gillespie having more success with his jab. Body shot by Lee, but he takes a hook to the face. Right hand lands for Lee and he follows up with a head kick, right on the button. Gillespie is KO’d against the fence.
