Two titles will be on the line at Invicta’s upcoming show in November.
Flyweight champion Vanessa Porto (21-8) will defend her title against Karina Rodriguez (8-3), and strawweights Kanako Murata (10-1) and Emily Ducote (8-5) will compete for a vacant belt at Invicta FC 38, the promotion announced Tuesday.
In February, Porto captured the vacant flyweight belt with a technical decision win (the bout was halted and scored in the fourth round after an eye poke rendered Porto unable to continue) over Pearl Gonzalez. The Brazilian has won three straight fights.
Rodriguez earned her shot at Porto by defeating DeAnna Bennett and Milana Dudieva to win a flyweight tournament. She is 4-1 inside the Invicta cage, with her lone loss coming at the hands of Bennett in their first meeting in March of last year.
Murata, a standout in Japan’s Rizin FF promotion who has also competed for Pancrase and Deep, made a successful Invicta debut this past June, picking up a first-round submission win over Liana Pirosin. She is currently riding a six-fight win streak.
Also impressing in her debut was Ducote, a former contender in Bellator who joined Invicta this year. At Invicta FC 36, Ducote needed a little more than four minutes to put away one-time strawweight title challenger Janaisa Morandin via strikes.
Invicta FC 38 takes place on Nov. 1 at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kan. The card will air live on the UFC Fight Pass streaming service.
