A replacement opponent has been secured for Thomas Gifford, who now faces Mike Davis at UFC Fight Night from Tampa, Fla. this Saturday.

UFC officials confirmed the news to MMAFighting on Tuesday following an initial report from ESPN.

Gifford needed a new opponent after recent Dana White Contender Series winner Brok Weaver was forced out of the fight for undisclosed reasons.

With only days remaining until the card takes place, the UFC was able to find a replacement in Davis, who trains out of Florida and accepted the fight on just four days’ notice.

Davis makes his second appearance in the octagon after falling to Gilbert Burns by submission in his April debut. Prior to that loss, Davis went 7-1 in his career with his only other loss coming to current UFC fighter Sodiq Yusuff on the Contender Series.

Now, Davis steps up to face Gifford, who’s also seeking his first UFC win after coming up short to Roosevelt Roberts in his debut.

UFC Fight Night from Tampa is headlined by former strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk taking on Michelle Waterson in a potential strawweight title eliminator.
