Veronica Macedo will return to action against Amanda Lemos in a strawweight contest at the UFC’s upcoming Fight Night event in Busan, South Korea.
Both fighters have agreed to meet at the Dec. 21 event, multiple sources told MMA Fighting following a report by Combate, but contracts have yet to be signed.
Macedo (6-3-1) picked up her first UFC win in August, submitting strawweight Polyana Viana with an armbar in just 69 seconds in Montevideo, Uruguay. The much-needed victory ended a four-fight skid that included three defeats and one draw. Macedo now drops to 115 pounds for UFC Busan.
Lemos (6-1-1) re-enters the Octagon more than two years after her short-notice debut loss to Leslie Smith at bantamweight. Months after the contest, USADA issued Lemos a two-year suspension after an out-of-competition drug test came back positive for the steroid stanozolol and its metabolite. Lemos’ suspension ends Nov. 8, 2019.
UFC Busan will be headlined by fan-favorite featherweights “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung and Brian Ortega.
