Former light heavyweight champion Phil Davis will return to the cage at Bellator 231, a Bellator official confirmed on Wednesday.
Davis meets Karl Albrektsson in the co-headliner of the Oct. 25 event at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. The news was first reported by MMA Junkie.
Bellator 231’s main card airs live on Paramount following prelims on DAZN and MMAFighting.
Ex-champ Davis (20-5) gets back to work five months after a second win over fellow ex-champ Liam McGeary. Davis broke McGeary’s jaw with a crank during the Bellator 220 clash, resulting in a third-round TKO.
The win put Davis back on the right foot after a rocky stretch in the Bellator cage. Prior to McGeary, he suffered an upset loss to Vadim Nemkov, delaying his goal of a rematch against current two-division champ Ryan Bader, who took his title in 2017.
Bellator signed Swedish Rizin vet Albrektsson in June. He holds a split decision win over Nemkov and has an overall record of 9-2.
Bellator 231 is headlined by a heavyweight rematch between Frank Mir and Roy Nelson.
