Rising bantamweight contender Patrick Mix is waiting on a new opponent after Dominic Mazzotta was forced out of their fight scheduled for Bellator 232 next weekend.

Bellator officials confirmed the news to MMA Fighting on Wednesday with a search under way to hopefully find Mix a new opponent. MyMMANews first reported Mazzotta’s withdrawal.

Mix has been tagged as one of the brightest young prospects to join the Bellator roster and he made an immediate impressive in his debut.

The undefeated New Yorker, who now trains at the famed Jackson-Wink Academy in New Mexico, needed just 66 seconds to put away Ricky Bandejas in his Bellator debut back in June.

Afterwards, Mix targeted James Gallagher as a potential opponent but ultimately he was matched up with Mazzotta at the upcoming card from the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn.

UPDATE: According to sources speaking to MMA Fighting on Wednesday, Isaiah Chapman is targeted as the new opponent to face Mix at Bellator 232, although contracts are not signed just yet.

Chapman is a 9-3 bantamweight out of Ohio, who is currently riding a three-fight win streak and previously competed under the World Series of Fighting banner.
