All four of the RIZIN lightweight tournament quarter-finals didn’t go beyond the first five minutes on Saturday in Osaka, Japan.
Tofiq Musaev got the ball rolling with a powerful display of striking against the durable Damien Brown, who met his demise through a series of grounded shots. Hiroto Uesako was unfortunately waved out of his fight with Luiz Gustavo by doctors after the Brazilian opened the Japanese fighter up with right hand.
Patricky Freire dispatched Tatsuya Kawajiri with a flying knee, which he followed up with strikes and Johnny Case ended Roberto de Souza’s night with a slick short hook as the submission specialist dived in for a takedown.
Following the quarter-final bouts, RIZIN drew the semifinal match-ups, which will be contested on Dec. 29 a the Saitama Super Arena. Freire is set to meet Gustavo in an all-Brazilian clash, while Musaev takes on Case.
The final of the tournament is set to take place two days later on Dec. 31.
