A month after being forced out of UFC Copenhagen with kidney stones, Thiago Alves already has a date set for his next bout.
The UFC announced on Friday that “Pitbull” will face Tim Means in a welterweight contest at UFC on ESPN 7 in Washington, DC, on Dec. 7.
Prior to his cancelled bout with Gunnar Nelson in September, Alves (23-14) suffered a decision loss to Argentina’s Laureano Staropoli at UFC 237 in Rio de Janeiro. Earlier this year, the former UFC title contender defeated Max Griffin in a close decision at UFC Fortaleza.
Means (28-11-1, 1 no-contest) last fought in March, losing via first-round knockout to Niko Price. A 78-second finish over Ricky Rainey last November was “The Dirty Bird’s” only victory in his last four appearances in the Octagon, a period that includes split decision defeats to Sergio Moraes and Belal Muhammad.
Headlined by a heavyweight showdown between Alistair Overeem and Walt Harris, UFC on ESPN 7 will take place at the Capital One Arena in Washington.
