Esther Lin, MMA Fighting

Irene Aldana got a big step up in competition.

The Mexican fighter has been booked to fight second-ranked bantamweight contender Ketlen Vieira at UFC 245, which is set to go down on Dec. 14 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. The news was first reported by Milenio on Thursday morning and later confirmed by MMA Fighting.

Aldana, ranked eighth in the division, is coming off a dominant decision win over Vanessa Melo at UFC Mexico in September. The Mexican fighter is 4-1 in her last five outings. She trains out of Lobo Gym in Guadalajara.

Meanwhile, Vieira hasn’t fought since UFC 222 in March 2018 where she outpointed Cat Zingano. The 28-year-old Brazilian is undefeated in MMA with a record of 10-0.

UFC 245 will host three title fights in Amanda Nunes vs. Germaine de Randamie, Max Holloway vs. Alexander Volkanovski, and Kamaru Usman vs. Colby Covington in the main event on the card.
