A lightweight fight which promises fireworks is coming to the City of Brotherly Love.
Edson Barboza and Justin Gaethje have agreed to square off on the March 30 card at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. MMA Fighting confirmed previous reports by multiple outlets.
Barboza (20-6) is coming off an impressive performance in a third-round knockout victory over Dan Hooker at UFC on FOX 31 in December. That snapped a two-fight losing streak for the longtime contender.
Gaethje (19-2), meanwhile, is also coming off a memorable knockout, his one-hitter quitter in the first round of his fight against James Vick at UFC Lincoln on Aug. 25. That, too, snapped a two-fight skid.
The duo have combined for 30 finishes among their 39 career wins. Barboza, who has been in the UFC since 2010, has six career Fight of the Night bonuses, while Gaethje, who debuted in the UFC in 2017, has three Fight of the Nights. His bouts with Michael Johnson (2017) and Dustin Poirier (2018) were MMA Fighting’s Fight of the Year in their respective years.
