A brutal loss didn’t stop Karolina Kowalkiewicz from reaching out to her fans.
Just hours after being on the wrong end of an ugly knockout at the hands of Jessica Andrade in the co-main event of UFC 228 on Saturday, the strawweight contender took to social media to let everyone know that she is “okay”, though she was visibly emotional after being KO’d for the first time in her career.

Hi guys, I just want to say thank you for your support and I’m sorry. I’m okay, it wasn’t my day, it was Jessica’s day, so big congratulations for Jessica and give me some time and I’ll be back stronger, I promise.
A one-time title challenger, Kowalkiewicz was well on her way back to a second championship opportunity on the strength of back-to-back wins over Felice Herrig and Jodie Esquibel, not to mention having a split decision win over current champion Rose Namajunas on her resume.
However, Saturday’s loss in Dallas is likely to push her back down the ladder and she’ll have to start building her case again whenever she decides to return to action.
