This is the A-Side Live Chat Podcast on MMA Fighting.
Today on the show, we’ll talk Donald Cerrone’s scathing comments last week about JacksonWink MMA. Who is in the right here, Cerrone or coach Mike Winkeljohn? What does this mean for Cerrone’s fight at UFC Denver against Mike Perry? Why do fans find intra-gym feuds to be so interesting?
We’ll also discuss UFC 228, which is headlined Saturday by a welterweight title fight between champion Tyron Woodley and challenger Darren Till. The co-main event is a fascinating women’s flyweight title fight between champion Nicco Montaño and Valentina Shevchenko. Shevchenko is a massive favorite despite coming in as the challenger. How will the card play out? Is there anything else to watch for in Dallas?
In addition, Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor have still yet to do any promotion for their UFC 229 lightweight title fight. The card is scheduled for Oct. 6 in Las Vegas. Will there be a press conference before fight week? If so, when and what can we expect? Will the PPV buys be hurt by the relative lack of promotion?
Nick Diaz had all charges dismissed in his domestic violence case dropped with prejudice last week in Las Vegas. Does that open the door for the elder Diaz brother’s return to the UFC? Who are potential opponents?
If there’s time, we can chat about Sage Northcutt’s callout of Logan Paul, BJ Penn’s reported return against Ryan Hall and whatever else you viewers want us to discuss. Marc was at the All In independent pro wrestling show Saturday in the Chicago area and he could chat about that. There was also Invicta FC 31 last Saturday night, headlined by another impressive win by strawweight champion Virna Jandiroba.
There is plenty to talk about, so join us to discuss all of the above and much more. All is up for discussion. The chat will start at our usual time of 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT.
Like Luke Thomas before us, we’ll post the video window as the event draws near and answer any questions you might have if you post them in the comments below. For the comments you deem the most deserving, please click the “rec” button. Comments in green will get first priority.
