Bellator 206 results: Aaron Pico rolls over Leandro Higo

They’ve been calling Aaron Pico the sport’s brightest blue-chip prospect for years now. But it’s time to retire that label, because it is clear the Southern California native is the real deal and well on his way to the top.

In just his fifth pro fight, Pico rolled over former Bellator title challenger Leandro Higo on Saturday night at Bellator 206.

Pico’s speed and punching power was too much for Higo to handle, as Pico earned a TKO win at San Jose’s SAP Center at 3:19 of the opening round.

“I’ll tell you one thing, three or four years from now, there will be no one who touches me in this cage,” Pico (4-1) said.

Higo used low kicks to try to stymie Pico’s progress at the outset, but it didn’t last long. The hard-charging Pico dropped Higo with a wicked right, and while Higo managed to get back to his feet after an initial onslaught, Pico just continued to lay the heavy hands on his opponent until the bout was waved off.

“I’ve been saying before the fight he’s never fought a guy on my level a guy who pushes the pace, for an hour I can go however long it can go.”

Pico is now 4-1, with all five fights finishing in the first round and all four wins coming by knockout. Higo (18-5) has now dropped two in a row and three of his past four.
