Lima and Koreshkov have faced each other twice, with Koreshkov taking the welterweight title from Lima via unanimous decision at Bellator 140 and Lima later winning it back via third-round KO at Bellator 164. They meet again on the main card.
Since then, Lima has gone 1-1 with a successful defense against Lorenz Larkin before dropping the title to Rory MacDonald. Koreshkov has won two straight, defeating Vaso Bakocevic and Chidi Njokuani by first-round KO.
Saturday’s bout is a quarter-final matchup in the Bellator Welterweight World Grand Prix. All matches in this tournament will be five-round affairs.

Round 1: Josh Rosenthal the third man in the cage for this one. Koreshkov takes center, they trade kicks, then Koreshkov fires a spinning one to the body that pushes Lima back to the fence. Leg kicks by Lima are finding a home. Koreshkov answers with his own. Koreshkov shoots in for a single leg and he gets stuffed. They’re working against the fence. Lima blocks a trip and spins right into a takedown attempt of his own, Koreshkov with good balance, they’re back on their feet and in the clinch. Koreshkov pulls Lima off the fence, but can’t secure a takedown. They’re trading knees to the legs in the clinch. Koreshkov with slightly more success, he has Lima against the fence. Elbow over the top by Lima, Koreshkov counters with a left hand. Koreshkov goes in again for a single leg, but can’t get low enough. Late takedown attempt by Koreshkov, Lima reverses and gets on top just as the bell rings.

Round 2: Lima opens with an outside leg kick. Koreshkov circling as Lima tries to walk him down. Little volume from both men. Quick left hand lands for Koreshkov. He fakes another and goes in for the takedown, Lima blocks it and pushes him over to the cage. They separate. Back in the middle, Koreshkov is still hunting for that left hand. Lima lands a body kick. Inside leg kick for Lima lands clean. He’s confidently throwing at Koreshkov’s legs now. Body punch connects for Lima. Koreshkov not throwing much. He goes in for a takedown, blocked, and they’re back against the fence. Neither man having much luck establishing a dominant position, they’re just exchanging knees to the legs.

Round 3: Rosenthal accidentally calls for this being the last round, but there are actually three more to go. Lima gets tripped up evading a straight left, but he’s back up quickly. Koreshkov is on him again and they’re locked in the clinch against the fence. Lima reverses position. Low knees still the weapon of choice here. Koreshkov reverses and ducks down into a double leg attempt. That’s a no-go and they remain deadlocked. Lima with some solid body kicks. Koreshkov closes the distance, Lima throws a left hand and circles out. Another pair of leg kicks score for Lima. Body kick for Koreshkov lands. Shot from distance is easily stuffed by Lima, he scrambles for the back, but settles into being on top in sprawl. Lima tries to take Koreshkov down, but Koreshkov slips out. Lima takes a body shot, then blocks another takedown.

Round 4: Lima pushing forward now, he lands one to the head and one to the body before Koreshkov circles out. Lima hits an oblique kick. Accidental low blow to Koreshkov as both fighters throw low kicks. Lima throwing straight punches now and Koreshkov is just backing away, not countering. He throws an overhand left that is blocked. Koreshkov takedown is blocked. Back to the fence. Koreshkov digging in for a takedown, he can’t get it. With about a minute to go, Lima lands an elbow as they separate. Lima connects with a knee to the chest as Koreshkov rushes in. Big right hand for Lima to close the round. He’s charging forward with less than 10 seconds to go, but Koreshkov defends well enough to make it to the final round.

Round 5: Both men working from distance, trading leg kicks. Lima is the one coming forward. Straight right for Lima lands. Left hook, then a right uppercut by Lima, Koreshkov has to back up and circle away. 1-2 by Lima scores. Single leg attempt by Koreshkov, Lima sprawls and gets into side position to throw some ground-and-pound, then he gets to back side control. Hammer fists and short punches by Lima. Hooks are in and he’s searching for a rear-naked choke. No tap, but Koreshkov goes out!
