UFC 229 is taking over New York this week in more ways than one.
With the countdown to Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Conor McGregor set to begin, the UFC is hosting a viewing party Thursday in New York’s Times Square for fight fans to watch the UFC 229 kickoff press conference scheduled for 5 p.m. ET.
The promotion announced Monday that its official UFC 229 viewing party will be held on the block on Broadway between 45th and 46th streets, where the Nurmagomedov vs. McGregor press conference will air live on Silvercast’s 330-foot Mega-Zilla, “the world’s largest TV screen.”
The UFC 229 kickoff press conference is scheduled to be open to media only, however a UFC official told MMA Fighting that all UFC 229 fight week events — open workouts, pre-fight press conference, weigh-ins — will be open to the attending fans in Las Vegas, as per usual.
UFC 229 takes place Oct. 6 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.
Nurmagomedov, the reigning UFC lightweight champion, puts his undefeated record on the line against former two-division titleholder McGregor in the night’s blockbuster main event.
