Invicta FC will be streaming a free fight next week.
The opening bout at Invicta FC 31 will air live on Facebook on Sept. 1 at 7:30 p.m. ET, officials told MMA Fighting on Friday. The main card will then air, as usual, on UFC Fight Pass beginning at 8 p.m. ET from Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City, Mo.
The opening fight is one that has just been added to the card between a pair of athletes making their pro debuts: bantamweights Chantel Coates and Ashlynn Kleinbeck. Coates is 2-0 as an amateur and was actually supposed to meet Kleinbeck in an ammy fight in June, but the event was rained out. Kleinbeck is 2-2 as an amateur. Both hail from Missouri.
”We’ve considered streaming fights on the Invicta Facebook page in the past, but felt that this card and this matchup created the perfect opportunity to present it to our fans,” Invicta FC president Shannon Knapp said in a statement. “Invicta has always strived to showcase the sport’s top stars, but also bring attention to the stars of tomorrow. Chantel and Ashlynn will both be making their pro debuts, so fans watching on Facebook will get a taste of what it’s like to be at the beginning of that journey.”
Invicta FC 31 is headlined by a strawweight title fight between champion Virna Jandiroba and challenger Janaisa Morandin, both promising Brazilian fighters. In the co-main event, UFC veteran Pearl Gonzalez takes on Daiane Firmino.
