This is the new A-Side Live Chat Podcast on MMA Fighting.
Today on the show, we’ll talk Jon Jones and his doping case with USADA. What is it taking so long deciding his punishment? Should the sanction announcement be expected soon? How long of a suspension is he likely facing?
We’ll also discuss UFC 229 nearly selling out in just a few minutes last week. What does that say about the Las Vegas card, headlined by Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Conor McGregor? Is it a good sign for the UFC? Where will the gate number end up?
In addition, James Gallagher’s loss at Bellator 204 drew a lot of buzz last week, in a negative fashion. Why were fellow fighters seemingly so glad that Gallagher, who talked trash before the fight, got knocked out by Ricky Bandejas? Was the vitriol warranted? Does Bellator have a future star in Bandejas?
There is also UFC Lincoln on Saturday night from Nebraska. Justin Gaethje takes on James Vick in the headliner in what is a key lightweight matchup. In the co-main event, Michael Johnson faces Andre Fili at featherweight. And there’s a very interesting women’s strawweight battle between Angela Hill and Cortney Casey on the docket as well.
If there’s time, we’ll also chat about some developments in the careers of Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey. Lesnar dropped the WWE Universal title at SummerSlam on Sunday. Does that mean he’s on path to return to the UFC? Rousey won the WWE Raw women’s title Sunday, becoming the first woman to win titles in UFC and WWE. Was that too soon for her?
There is plenty to talk about, so join us to discuss all of the above and much more. All is up for discussion, but we’ll lead off with this. The chat will start at our time of 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT.
